APHIS Seeks Comment on Draft Pest Risk Assessments for the Importation of Fresh Cucumber, Oriental Melon, Turban Squash, and Watermelon From the Republic of Korea
APHIS has drafted pest risk assessments for year-round market expansion of fresh cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.), Oriental melon (Cucumis melo), turban squash (Cucurbita maxima), and watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) for consumption from the Republic of Korea into the United States. The assessments describe potential pests associated with each of the four cucurbit commodities.
APHIS shares draft pest risk assessments to determine whether stakeholders have information that might lead us to revise the draft assessment before we identify pest mitigations and proceed with the commodity import approval process.
The draft pest risk assessment for the fresh cucurbits (cucumber, Oriental melon, turban squash, and watermelon) for consumption from the Republic of Korea will be available for review and comment until July 24, 2025.
